Bangladesh captain Litton Das credited his team’s familiarity with the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium pitch in Mirpur as a key factor in their dominant seven-wicket victory over Pakistan in the opening T20I of the three-match series on Sunday.

On a slow surface that offered grip and turn, Bangladesh’s bowlers exploited the conditions effectively to bowl out Pakistan for just 110 runs — their lowest-ever T20I total against Bangladesh.

“We’ve played a lot at this ground, so we know the wicket very well. It’s not the easiest surface to bat on, but our batting made it look better. In the second innings, the dew probably helped as the ball came on nicely.” Litton said during the post-match presentation.

Bangladesh chased down the modest target comfortably, led by a calm and unbeaten 56 off 39 balls from opener Parvez Emon, sealing the win with 27 balls to spare.

Pakistan captain Salman Agha acknowledged his team’s shortcomings, saying they fell short of expectations despite anticipating a challenging pitch in Mirpur.
“You always expect these kinds of wickets in Bangladesh,” Salman noted. “You rarely get a batting-friendly surface here. So, we were prepared for this, but we didn’t perform well. We need to rotate the strike better. We'll regroup and discuss our approach.”
The second T20I is scheduled to take place at the same venue on Tuesday.
