In November last year, Mohammad Salahuddin was appointed as the senior assistant coach of the Bangladesh national cricket team. Although his initial contract was set to expire in March 2025, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) retained him beyond that period.

The board had previously indicated plans to sign a long-term deal with him, and now it has been confirmed.

A reliable source confirmed to Cricfrenzy that Salahuddin’s contract is set to be extended until November 2027. Along with the extension, his salary has also increased.
While he previously earned BDT 800,000 per month, he is now reportedly set to receive nearly BDT 980,000 monthly.
Following the departure of David Hemp, Salahuddin also temporarily took on the role of acting batting coach for the national side. However, during several series marked by underwhelming performances from the Bangladesh batters, Salahuddin faced criticism from some quarters. Despite that, the board has continued to back him.

Recently, BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul stated, "We appoint batting coaches with a long-term vision. It’s a continuous process. Salahuddin is doing a good job. At this moment, there’s no thought of replacing him."

Though the BCB has yet to make an official announcement regarding Salahuddin’s new contract, reports suggest he was supposed to receive his updated appointment letter before the Zimbabwe Test series earlier this year.
Bangladesh has since played against UAE, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and again Pakistan at home — but without any formal communication from the board on his status.
This extended contract is part of BCB’s long-term planning leading up to the 2026 T20 World Cup and the 2027 ODI World Cup.
The board has also extended the contract of head coach Phil Simmons and brought in former Australian pacer Shaun Tait as the new pace bowling coach. Rumors are also swirling that the BCB is considering hiring a new foreign batting coach in the near future.
