Bangladesh suffered a 5-wicket defeat against Pakistan in their race to the semi-final spot at the T20 World Cup, Adelaide Oval.

Chasing a modest 128 for victory in Adelaide, Pakistan achieved their target with five wickets and 11 balls to spare to qualify for Semi-final from Group 2.

Bangladesh bowler Taskin Ahmed could have made an early blow as Mohammad Rizwan was dropped on by wicket-keeper Nurul Hasan Sohan.

Nasum Ahmed and Ebadot Hossain, skipper Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman took one each for Bangladesh.

Shaheen Shah Afridi picked up four wickets to dismantle Bangladesh's batting order as they were crushed to 127-8 after 20 overs.

Shaheen returned his T20 best figures of 4-22, struck early for Pakistan as the left-arm quick sent back Liton Das for 10 after Bangladesh elected to bat first.

Then, Najmul Hossain Shanto put on 52 runs with Soumya Sarkar for the second wicket stand. Spinner Shadab Khan got rid off Soumya on 20 runs and skipper Shakib al Hasan for naught.

However, Shakib's wicket created a lot of controversies after he was given out despite a review s.

The incident took place during the 11th over of the game when Shakib came to bat to face Shadab Khan after the dismissal of Soumya Sarkar.

Shadab trapped Shakib for an LBW, however, Shakib called for a review immediately. It revealed that there was a large spike as the ball passed Shakib's bat.

According to the third umpire, the spike was from the bat hitting the ground but there was a noticeable gap between the toe of the bat and the ground when the spike appeared on ultraedge

Bangladesh lost regular wickets and Shaheen struck twice in one over and then picked a fourth for the first time in his T20 career.

Pakistan will play against New Zealand in the second semifinal of the T20 World Cup and if India beat Zimbabwe in the last match of the group, India will go top and will take on England.
