It was not long ago when Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo insisted they are considering Rubel Hossain for white-ball cricket.
After the Test match against Pakistan where Rubel was selected in the playing XI, Domingo said that they are considering the right-arm pace bowler for the white-ball cricket.
However it seems national selection panel is not totally convinced with his opinion as they opted not to keep Rubel Hossain in the national contact list that was announced by BCB on Sunday.
In Rubel's recent performance in Test cricket, there is so little chance to consider him in the Test squad. But in limited-overs cricket, he was still in the team for a while. After being dropped from the Test squad after visiting Pakistan last month, he was said to be considered for white ball. But he didn’t get place in the one day series against Zimbabwe and not even in T20 squad. This time he didn’t get place in the contract also.
The chief selector said because of poor performance Rubel is not in the contract.
“We consider Rubel in white ball. Still he is not out of consideration. However, his performance is not very good. Being out of the contract does not mean everything is over. If he can get back into the squad with his performance, then he will be in contract automatically on that time as well.”
Last year, Rubel had the opportunity to play for the national team in the ODI version only. He had 5 wickets in 6 matches. The bowling average was 69, he gave 7 runs per over.
