Despite being an alarming situation of coronavirus Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League is ongoing flawlessly, after finishing six matches of the first round and the rest of the round is still to be played.
BCB is yet to make a call about it after the PCB announcement about the postponement of the upcoming events with Bangladesh at Karachi.
From international cricket to domestic cricket league every event is seeing to be postponed because of this virus. Indian Premier League has been delayed from 29 March to 15 April, while Cricket West Indies have put all regional tournaments on hold from 16 March. Pakistan Cricket Board also postponed their match with Bangladesh on this Monday (March 16).
Speaking about the ongoing Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier League, after the call off by PCB, the BCB chief executive officer Nizamuddin Chowdhury said to the media, They are trying to complete the event by applying rules given by the medical advisory team and will hold a discussion with the players and the clubs to decide what they will have to do in the coming fixture.
“We are following the instruction given by the medical instructor in the current tournament. Initial action was to control the gathering and we are doing it almost perfectly right now. Also we will have a discussion with the players and the clubs and then we will decide about this situation,” He said.
Earlier today (Monday, 16 March) Pakistan Cricket Board and Bangladesh Cricket Board agreed to postpone the third phase of their series, including one ODI and one Test match in Karachi in early April on because of the novel coronavirus epidemic.
Nizamuddin Chowdhury told a reporter that it was PCBs decision to postpone and BCB just agreed on it. Because PCB was the host and they had to make the call. Also, BCB and PCB is eyeing to reschedule the event.
He said, “As the Pakistan Cricket Board was the host, they had the call to make. We were continuously having a discussion with the PCB how we can work with this and a sensible approach was there if we can reschedule the match on a suitable time and finally the PCB has told us that they will reschedule it and we also agreed with them.”
Now it’s a matter of time where the Cricket Board of Bangladesh will sit for a discussion and make a call for the DPL.
