Aminul Islam Bulbul has been elected as the new president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), following a majority vote during the board's meeting on Friday.
On Thursday night, Bulbul was approved as a National Sports Council (NSC)-nominated councilor in an online session. The NSC then issued a gazette on Friday, officially appointing him as a BCB director.

With this appointment, Bulbul participated in the board meeting and was subsequently elected as BCB president. The process mirrors that of his predecessor, Faruque, who had also been appointed as president after being nominated by the NSC.
Faruque’s exit came after the NSC revoked his directorship on Thursday night, following a no-confidence letter submitted by eight BCB directors.
Losing his directorship meant he automatically lost the BCB presidency. However, Faruque has vowed to take legal action and is reportedly preparing to file a complaint to the ICC over what he alleges to be government interference.

Bulbul is a former Bangladesh national team captain and the country's first Test centurion. Prior to taking on responsibilities at the BCB, he worked with the International Cricket Council (ICC) as the Asia Development Manager.
The ICC has granted Bulbul leave to serve in his BCB role.
His goal is to oversee a fair and transparent election process before returning to his ICC duties—something the global cricket body has confirmed he can resume after his term with the BCB ends.
