Explaining his decision, Bulbul noted that several initiatives he launched have been progressing well, and he wants to continue that momentum. “I had said it was a quick innings, but it’s not over yet. If I continue, I’ll go to ODI from T20,” he told the media in Sylhet.

Bulbul first entered the board as a councillor through direct nomination from the National Sports Council (NSC), before being elected president. On whether he has discussed his candidacy with the NSC this time, he said, “I haven’t had any talks with the NSC yet. I’ve only expressed my intention to contest if possible. I don’t know yet how it will happen. But the work I started is going well, and I want to see it through.”

The BCB election, scheduled for the first week of October, is already the subject of intense discussion. Questions remain over who will contest the presidency, whose acceptability will be higher, and who will emerge as councillors.
