Team manager Nafees Iqbal stated, “Phil Simmons is travelling to the UK for two days due to personal reasons. He has scheduled a consultation with his doctor there. He is leaving today (Friday) and will return on July 7.”
As a result, Simmons will be absent during the second ODI on July 5 but is expected to rejoin the team ahead of the third and final ODI on July 8.
The BCB clarified that Simmons was originally supposed to see his doctor back in February, during the Champions Trophy, but postponed the appointment due to tournament commitments.
He had been trying to reschedule the visit for a while, and with no alternative available, he opted for a short leave now.
