Ahead of a busy schedule, Bangladesh national team cricketers reported to the National Stadium this morning for a fitness test. The session, held on the athletics track, featured running and physical endurance assessments, with young pacer Nahid Rana emerging as the standout performer in the 1,600-meter run.

For the past two years, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has been following this format to evaluate the fitness levels of national team players, particularly before major series or tournaments. The test involves four laps of the 400-meter track to gauge players’ physical readiness.

Sunday’s session ran from 6:00 am to 9:00 am, although players arrived around 6:30 am. The fitness test, conducted under the supervision of BCB trainer Nathan Kelly, included members of the preliminary Asia Cup squad as well as several players from the Test pool.
Nahid Rana clocked the best time of the day, completing the 1,600 meters in just 5 minutes and 31 seconds. He was followed by fellow pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib, who finished in 5 minutes and 53 seconds.

A similar fitness test was held in April this year at the same venue under the same process. The current fitness phase will continue until August 15, after which skill training will commence.
