The trial and selection camp for the Youth Physically Challenged Cricket team began on Tuesday at the Bashundhara Sports City. On the opening day, former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal was present, while Mushfiqur visited the following day.

On his way to watch the specially-abled cricketers in action, Mushfiqur had a glimpse of the facilities at the Bashundhara Cricket Network. Later, speaking to the media, he showered praise on the infrastructure.

“Looking at the Bashundhara Cricket Network, we should all feel ashamed. Because a group in Bangladesh has built something like this, while not even our national teams—let alone cricket—have such facilities. These are basic things that should already be in place. Without proper facilities, producing quality cricketers becomes extremely difficult,” Mushfiqur said.

The Bashundhara Cricket Network currently features five center wickets and twelve turf pitches. Its state-of-the-art indoor facility includes a seven-lane AstroTurf, advanced bowling machines, and video analysis support. Additionally, players can access a modern gym, swimming pool, and ice bath.

Mushfiqur expressed hope that others will take inspiration from Bashundhara and build similar infrastructures to benefit the nation’s cricketers.

“If our policymakers don’t get motivated seeing these facilities, it would be nothing but disappointing. Still, this is definitely inspirational. Even if it came a little late, a big group like Bashundhara has finally done it. I hope many cricketers and people will benefit from this, and others will be inspired to follow,” he added.
