The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the official election schedule, confirming that the polls will be held on October 6, not October 4 as earlier expected. Alongside the revised date, deadlines for nomination submissions and withdrawals have also been set.

The final day for submitting nominations for the General Council was fixed for Monday, September 22.

Several heavyweight candidates have already purchased nomination forms. Former national cricketer Faruque Ahmed was the first to declare his intention to contest, though there had been uncertainty over when he would collect his nomination papers or which category he would represent.

It is now confirmed that he will be contesting from the Club Category (Category 2), having collected his councillor nomination on behalf of Rangers Cricket Academy.

According to the updated schedule, the final voters’ list will be published on September 25, while nomination forms will be distributed on September 26 and 27.

Submissions must be made by September 28, with scrutiny and the publication of the final list scheduled for September 29. Candidates may withdraw their nominations by October 1, when the final list of contestants will also be released.

The results of the elections will be announced on the evening of October 6. The schedule specifies that the official results will be declared at 6:00 PM, with the election for President and Vice-President to be held at 7:30 PM. Their results will be made public by 9:00 PM on the same day.

The election is set to witness a high-stakes contest between current BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul and former captain Tamim Iqbal, both of whom have confirmed their candidacies.
