According to the tournament committee’s decision, the matches scheduled in Bogura on September 15 and 16 were shifted to the Rajshahi Divisional Stadium.
On the morning of September 15, Barishal and Dhaka Division were set to meet, but persistent rain left officials with no choice but to abandon the game after a long wait.
Later in the day, Khulna and Chattogram players arrived at the ground, but despite a brief spell of sunshine in the afternoon, the outfield could not be prepared in time. The second match of the day was also abandoned due to a wet outfield.
This means three of the first four games in the second edition of the National Cricket League (NCL) T20 have already been washed out. Unlike last season, which was held solely in Sylhet, this edition saw Rajshahi and Bogura added as venues. But the monsoon rains have made it increasingly difficult to keep fixtures on track.
Already, Bogura has lost two matches to the weather, and more games could be shifted to Rajshahi. However, Rajshahi too is struggling to host matches under the same conditions.
The September 16 morning game between Rajshahi and Khulna, and the afternoon clash between Rangpur and Dhaka, led by Akbar Ali, have now been rescheduled to 17th.
With persistent bad weather, the NCL T20 committee has decided to keep a rest day. The competition, initially set to finish on September 19, will now run until September 20. As a result, the Sylhet phase of the tournament will begin on September 22 instead of September 21, pushing every match a day behind schedule.
