Durbar Rajshahi pacer Taskin Ahmed etched his name in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) history on Sunday by equaling Shakib Al Hasan’s record for the most wickets in a single season.

Taskin claimed his 24th wicket of the ongoing BPL season by trapping Rangpur Riders’ batter Rakibul Hasan LBW at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

Taskin achieved this milestone in just 11 matches, surpassing Shakib’s tally of 23 wickets, which the all-rounder had taken in 15 matches during the 2019 season for Dhaka Dynamites.

The record-breaking moment came as Taskin delivered another stellar performance for Rajshahi. His consistency throughout the season has made him the leading wicket-taker.

Following Taskin and Shakib in the list of most wickets in a single BPL season is Caribbean pacer Kevon Cooper, who claimed 22 wickets in just 9 matches for Chittagong Kings in 2016. Shakib also holds the fourth spot on this list with 22 wickets in 2018, achieved while playing for Dhaka Dynamites.
