The defending champions had displayed grit and unity throughout the tournament, including a narrow 8-run victory over Dubai Capitals in the round-robin stage that not only sealed their place in the final but also delivered a memorable moment of reunion between Shakib Al Hasan and several of his Bangladesh teammates.
That group-stage clash between Dubai and Rangpur at Providence in Guyana, carried significant narrative weight. Shakib, once expected to feature for Rangpur, instead turned up for Dubai after being dropped by the BPL franchise.
However, Rangpur’s captain Sohan cherished the reunion with Shakib and shared that moment with Cricfrenzy.
“We met before the match, had a chat, and I felt terrific seeing him on the field again. I think he’s truly enjoying his time on the cricket field,” said Sohan,
Shakib’s stint in the GSL was also closely monitored back in Bangladesh Cricket Board.
Whether Shakib will play again in Bangladesh colors remains a topic of discussion. He is currently staying abroad due to political reasons.
Considering everything, the possibility of his return to the country appears slim. BCB had earlier stated that the door remains open for Shakib.
While nothing concrete had been said about his future until now, BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul has made it clear that for Shakib to return to the national team, he must first come back to the country.
