Mahmudullah Riyad to play for Atlanta Fire in Atlanta Open T20

Mahmudullah Riyad is set to participate in the upcoming Atlanta Open T20 tournament as the experienced all-rounder will represent the USA-based franchise Atlanta Fire, where star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has also been confirmed to play.

The tournament is scheduled to be held from October 7 to 12 at the Paramveer Cricket Complex in Ryadale, USA. According to the organizers, six teams will take part in this significant franchise-style domestic event in the United States.

Confirming Riyad’s participation, the organizers hailed him as a "star" on social media, writing: “Starpower Unlocked! Mahmudullah Riyad will play for Atlanta Fire in the Atlanta Open T20 tournament.”
Riyad recently bid farewell to international cricket, announcing his retirement from ODIs after the Champions Trophy earlier this year. He had previously stepped away from Tests in 2021 and T20Is in 2023.

In his T20I career, the veteran featured in 141 matches, scoring 2,444 runs at an average of 23.50, alongside 41 wickets with the ball. He also brings experience from various franchise leagues, including the PSL and CPL.

Shakib is also expected to represent Atlanta Fire in the USA’s Minor League, meaning two Bangladeshi stars will play together in the same team. Shakib is currently engaged in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
