Shanto, who had finished Day 1 unbeaten on 136, looked solid early on but was dismissed for 148, just two runs short of a potential 150. However, a solid partnership between Mushfiqur and Litton Das steadied the innings.
At the end of the day's play, Bangladesh’s senior assistant coach Mohammad Salahuddin addressed the media and lauded Shanto’s resilience and leadership, particularly under pressure and injury.
Salahuddin emphasized that Shanto’s attitude and performance under adversity would serve as inspiration for the rest of the squad moving forward.
“He had a badly swollen finger and still chose to bat. Shanto is a mentally tough character. After all the criticism and trolling, the way he has kept his head straight and performed — I don’t think many players can do that in the long run. He has shown true leadership qualities, and that will be a big example for the younger players.” Salahuddin said.
