Bangladesh players celebrate a wicket, ZC
Bangladesh Under-19 edged out South Africa Under-19 in a heart-stopping finish during the second match of the Zimbabwe U19 Tri-Series 2025 at the Sunrise Sports Club in Harare on Saturday.

The low-scoring encounter saw Bangladesh successfully chase down a modest target, thanks largely to a composed, unbeaten innings from Samiun Basir.

10 Dec 24After winning the toss, South Africa U-19 opted to bat but were rocked early by a fiery spell from Al Fahad and Iqbal Hossain Emon, losing their top four batters within the first nine overs.
A brief fightback came from Paul James and Armaan Manack, who stitched together a 52-run stand for the fifth wicket, lifting the score from 43-4 to 95-5. However, the dismissal of James—caught by Iqbal off Samiun Basir—sparked another collapse.

Daniel Bosman fought back with an unbeaten 24 down the order, but South Africa were eventually bowled out for just 128 in 34.4 overs. Al Fahad starred with the ball, claiming 4 for 32, while Basir and Shadhin Islam took two wickets each.
Bangladesh’s chase got off to a rocky start as they lost four wickets for just 35 runs and were later reduced to 59-6 by the 15th over. JJ Basson (4 wickets) and Bayanda Majola (3 for 35) made life difficult for the batters with sharp seam bowling.
However, Samiun Basir held firm amidst the chaos. Batting with the tail, he scored a match-winning 45* off just 39 balls, including seven boundaries and a six.
Despite Bangladesh falling to 109-9 at one stage, Basir kept his cool and guided his team over the line for a dramatic one-wicket victory.
