Jaker Ali captained Bangladesh in their Super Four match against India in Dubai on Wednesday, filling in for the injured Litton Das. Bangladesh lost the match by 41 runs. Litton had suffered a back strain during practice on Monday, ruling him out of the game.

With back-to-back matches scheduled against India and Pakistan, speculation arose that the team management might have rested Litton to ensure he was fit for the crucial clash against Pakistan.

However, Jaker clarified after the India game that the team had been eager to play Litton and waited until the last moment before deciding to leave him out.

“We waited until the very end, but it didn’t happen. It was already decided that I would lead the side if Litton couldn’t play, so I was prepared,” Jaker said at the post-match press conference.

Bangladesh now faces uncertainty regarding Litton’s participation in the do-or-die match against Pakistan.

Jaker hinted that Litton is still recovering, and the final decision will depend on his fitness. Team sources suggest his chances are slim, but given the match's importance, he might take the risk even if not fully fit.

"We'll see if he can play, he is in recovery. We will wait."
