Bangladeshi player Sadman Islam and Mrittunjoy Chowdhury has return from Australia after their succesful surgery on this Tuesday (17 March). After their arrival they have been putted into home quarantine.
Left-handed opener Sadman and U-19 pace bowling all rounder Mrittunjoy both have undorgone surgery in Melbourne. Sadman had wrist injury and Mrittunjoy had shoulder. Two cricketers returned to Bangladesh last Tuesday after successful surgery. Back home, the two have gone to home quarantine because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The government has ordered to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection worldwide, it is mandatory for anyone returning from abroad to be in a two-week home quarantine. To follow that order Sadman and Mrittunjoy have kept locked themselves in their house. This is the first news of any Bangladesh cricketers being into home quarantine.
Ensuring voluntary isolation from everyone, Sadman told a reporter that, 'I am in a two-week home quarantine following instructions. Everything is normal. Just not getting out anywhere. I will be out after two weeks following the rules." On the hand it seems normal to Mrittunjoy, "since I came from outside the country, I had to stay home for two weeks. That's what I'm doing."
BCBs physician Debashis Chowdhury was also present in Melbourne during Sadman and Mrittunjoys surgery. He also went to home quarantine after returning to Bangladesh.
Debashis said that,"Being in the house, avoiding human contact, self-quarantine is actually part of awareness. We don't know if we are carrying germs. If it is not revealed in two weeks, then we will know that there is no germs in us.'
BCB Director and CCDM Chairman Kazi Inam Ahmed is also in home quarantine right now. He returned from Bangkok two days ago. Kazi Inam could not attend the Dhaka Premier League meeting with BCB President Nazmul Hassan yesterday as he was in the home quarantine following the government's order.
BCB organized a special seminar on Saturday at 12 noon to raise awareness on coronavirus among the players, coaching staff, officials and staff. Chandan Kumar Roy, associate professor of microbiology at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, will discuss what to do to combat coronavirus. There are also an awareness programs about field workers.
