Kolkata's big achievement Shakib

Shakib Al Hasan has returned to his old team in the Indian Premier League (IPL). After 2011, Kolkata Knight Riders have signed him in the team again. Kolkata picked the all-rounder for INR 3.2 crore in the auction of the 14th edition of the IPL. Kolkata chief executive Venky Mysore said it’s a big achievement for the team.

Kolkata had to fight a couple of rounds with Punjab Kings to get Shakib in the team. Shakib has the base price of Rs 2 crore. KKR made the opening bid for the all-rounder.

KKR first signed him in 2011. Since then, he played 8 seasons for the franchise, he played an important role in winning the IPL trophy in 2012 and 2014 for the team.

“We all have an idea about Shakib, what a quality cricketer he is. We had built a good relationship with him when he was in Calcutta. He has always performed for the team. He will also provide a platform for our three foreign cricketers to perform.” Mysore said.

'Morgan is a proper batsman. While, Narine and Russell can perform with both bat and ball. And Shakib brings balance to the team with the left-arm spin. He even bats well. We were looking for someone like him during the auction. And getting Shakib is a big achievement for the team. He is very experienced. There is also Harbhajan Singh who will give good service to the team.”
