Bangladesh made a dream start to the Asia Cup Super Four stage with a stunning win over Sri Lanka. With two matches left, Litton Das’s men now have a realistic chance of reaching the final if they can deliver another strong performance.

The Tigers will face India on 24 September, followed by Pakistan on 25 September. A win in at least one of those games could secure their place in the final, though much will also depend on the results of the other Super Four fixtures featuring India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

For now, Bangladesh hold the advantage after defeating Sri Lanka, while India strengthened their position with a win against Pakistan.

Among the remaining games, the clash against India appears the toughest on paper. But head coach Phil Simmons refuses to brand India as an invincible opponent.

“Every team has the ability to beat India. It all depends on how you play on that particular day. What India did before doesn’t matter, what they do on Wednesday will. We’ll try our best to play our best cricket and hopefully force India into mistakes. That’s how you win matches,” Simmons told reporters in the pre-match press conference.

Despite India’s stronger record and superior statistics, Simmons stressed the importance of seizing every opportunity. He has already urged his players not to miss any catches, run-out chances, or stumpings.

Buoyed by the confidence of beating Sri Lanka, Simmons believes Bangladesh can upset India if they stay disciplined and clinical.

“You must have belief. We’ve spoken about it as a team and we all know we have a chance. If we can gain control of the game, we must hold on to it. We need to capitalize on every opportunity. We do have a chance to beat India.” Simmons told reporters.
